Jian Qin presented a talk with this title on November 14, 2013, from 12-1pm in the Katzer Room of the iSchool at Syracuse University. Dr. Qin is the Principal Investigator for this GenBank project.
Here's a little more about her presentation:
"Data resulted from research and other activities are becoming increasingly volatile, volumic, and complex, but ever so important for solving big, complex problems and supporting policy- and decision-making. Although large investment and efforts in building data repositories and enforcing policy mandates for data sharing, there are still big gaps between the rate of data growth and the capacity of data management and analysis. This presentation will discuss some of the technical, organizational, and behavioral factors for the gaps and describe the concept of 'Data Infrastructure Service.' "
